Ipak is 'silk' in Uzbek. Nilufar grew up next to the Yodgorlik mill in Margilan, where adras and khan-atlas are still tied and dyed by hand. Her studio takes that cloth out of the dowry chest and into shirts, bombers and long chapans cut for the city.
